Toby Lewis has won the 2018 Aussie Millions $10,600 AUD buy-in no-limit hold’em main event. The 28-year-old British poker pro overcame a field of 800 entries, the largest-ever turnout for this tournament, to capture the title and the first-place prize of $1,458,198 AUD ($1,156,205 USD).
That is the largest tournament score of Lewis’ career, eclipsing the $599,984 he won as the champion of the European Poker tour Vilamoura main event in 2010. Lewis now has just shy of $4.2 million in lifetime live tournament earnings.

Lewis entered the final day of this event as the chip leader with seven players remaining. Lewis also had the strongest live tournament resume of the remaining players, with lone American Michael Del Vecchio being the next most accomplished with $1,495,234 in earnings and a World Poker Tour title to his name. The 2017 WPT Rolling Thunder champion got his last chips in holding the Q5 on a A106 flop. His big-blind special had unfortunately run into the 106 of Lewis, who made the call to put Del Vecchio at risk. The J turn and 8 river kept Lewis in the lead, securing him the pot and sending Del Vecchio to the rail in fifth place ($293,373 USD).
With that Lewis took a massive lead into four-handed action, with 15,810,000 of the 24 million chips in play. But the time Chul-Hyon Park was eliminated in fourth ($372,663 USD) things had been evened out considerably. The final three players composed a deal that saw Lewis secure $1,383,198 AUD, while Espen Solaas locked up $1,177,103 AUD and Stefan Huber took home $909,699 AUD. That left $75,000 AUD and the title to play for.
Lewis picked up pocket kings and got all-in against Solaas’ A9 to eliminate him in third place, taking roughly a 2-to-1 lead going into heads-up play with Huber. It took only 16 hands for him to seal the deal. In the final hand, Huber opened to 400,000 from the button and Lewis called. The flop brought the QQ8 and Lewis checked. Huber bet 225,000. Lewis check-raised to 625,000 and Huber called. The turn brought the 7 and Lewis checked again. Huber bet 700,000 only to have Lewis move all in. Huber made the call for his last 3,260,000 with the A8, only to have Lewis show him the Q10 for trip queens. Huber was drawing dead, and the 5 on the river was a mere formality. With that Lewis secured the pot and the title, eliminating Huber in second place.
